If it were to become established here, the ALB could become one of the most destructive and costly.

Insect and Forest Conditions - Mr. Kettela, reviewed forest conditions and budworm population levels estimated from egg-mass surveys and indicated that the area of high infestation had more than doubled to 11 million acres (Appendix 2). California Past Forest Pest Condition Reports to Current The California Forest Pest Conditions Report are an important part of California history regarding forest insects and diseases that have impacted the forests of the state in past years. The National Forest Pest Strategy provides a plan for integrating all of the work being done across Canada by this range of parties.

The aim is to help all the jurisdictions involved work together with the common goal of maintaining healthy forests and a sustainable forest sector. First found in the Maritimes inthe disease is widespread in New Brunswick, was present from to in Nova Scotia, and has not yet been found in Prince Edward Island.

About one-third of the pine plantations are infected in New Brunswick, the inoculum originating from surrounding : Laszlo P. Magasi. INSECTS AND DISEASES OF THE URBAN FOREST IN THE MARITIMES by Laszlo P.

Magasi Abstract. There are over insect species and over diseases known to affect trees in the Maritimes. These add further stresses to trees already faced with existing environ-mental and urban challenges. Urban tree pests affect all parts of nearly all tree species.

Forest Pest Identification Forest damage is caused by insects, diseases (fungi, parasitic plants), animals and abiotic agents (e.g., wind, frost, drought, pollution).

To determine whether damage is serious or manageable, you must identity the damaging agent. This report provides an overview of the status of forest insect and pest conditions in New Brunswick (NB) inand highlights many of the pest management activities of the NB Department of Natural Resources' Forest Pest Management Group (FPMG).

It is not intended to itemize all details for each survey conducted, except where. Evaluate pest conditions, primarily those of forest insects, diseases and animal damage. Make recommendations on pest control to forest management, protection agencies and forest landowners.

Review policy, legal and research aspects of forest pest management, and submit recommendations thereon to appropriate authorities.
